My wife and I were looking for lunch in the area, and after checking reviews on yelp we decided to try Throwback Kitchen. We were thoroughly impressed, it lived up to the hype and then some. I had the Monte Cristo, and it was hands down the best I've had in the 8+ years I've lived in Charlotte. My wife had an egg white veggie omelet, and it too looked delicious. After our meal, we got a slice of their cake, a carrot cake variant with other fruits involved like pineapple and cream cheese frosting with nuts on it. We couldn't get enough. Absolutely amazing! We only wished we lived closer to this side of town so we could come back more often! We will definitely be recommending this diner to all of our friends in the area.

Passable food; nothing to recommend however. The omlette was flat and plain tasting. The reuben sandwich meat was gristly and fatty (what meat there was), The wife had the chicken curry salad sandwich. Are you supposed to be able to taste the curry? The inside had great decoration and had very clean restrooms. but I doubt we will be back.

Great breakfast, simple, to the point and food was exactly as ordered. While I didn't order any baked goods they looked enticing and prices seemed fair. For the time I was there (Sat at 8:30 am) the place seemed slow, I hope that picks up, there are few places in Rock Hill that offer a good breakfast on Saturday morning.

If you are looking for a small town diner with excellent food, look no farther. I opted for the TBK (throw back kitchen) Burger and it was awesome. The hummingbird cake was made fresh this morning and displayed in a way I had to have a slice. Excellent ending to my lunch. Staff is friendly and the stream of locals tells me that the secret is getting out. Add this to your list of places to eat if you are in South Charlotte, Midlands South Carolina or just passing through on I-77.

It was so nice to meet The owners Keith and Chantelle(sp?) yesterday. My wife and I were in the area and looking for a nice place for lunch. It is great to have found the Throwback Kitchen! If not for the previous Yelp Review, we probably would have driven straight past it. It is always encouraging to read a lengthy review from someone who is as committed to the yelp community, but I digress... The menu was filled with a nice selection of lunch items in addition to the daily specials. Everything sounded so good it was hard to decide. We decided to share! The TBK burger is a hand-formed burger with caramelized onions, goat cheese and mixed greens. Excellent! The walnut Craisin chicken salad was homemade with nice chunks of fresh chicken and had great flavor! Sandwiches come with a side of pasta salad or potato salad. Both were an appropriate size and were a good accompaniment to the sandwiches. The orange creamsicle pound cake was a great way to finish off the meal. We will definitely be back and can't wait to try some of the other lunch items not to mention the back page of the menu... BREAKFAST! Served in the AM only (bummer) the breakfast options sounded very tasty too. Sweet and crunchy French toast dipped in frosted flakes! I can taste it already! Best of luck to nice couple that clearly cares about their business, their customers and their food!

My bf and I ate breakfast here. We ate breakfast burritos and they were yummy. The owners were sweet and very attentive. They made sure our food was prepared just how we liked it. We wish them lots of customers and success.

I came upon it by accident. The space had previously been operating as a normal order at the counter deli; subs etc... I was pleasantly surprised at the inside renovations made. It is very 'comfortable'. . Not an extensive menu (yet, I'm hoping), but the items are from your traditional sandwiches to a little more creative, gourmet. I had the Turkey and Goat Cheese sub. Don't knock it 'til you try it! I also ordered the Monte Cristo; very tasty as well. You have an option of potato salad or pasta salad. The potato salad does have egg, which I like. The pasta salad is mayo-less, oil base with herbs, which is also very good. All in all, I am definitely going back for seconds!!!! (& thirds.....)

Throwback has CLOSED. Sign gone and phone is not a working number. I think the location in a small neighborhood strip center, and perhaps an off-putting name, led to this outcome. Several have said the food was good, but I never saw the place very busy.

Knocked this one out of the park! Throwback Kitchen is exactly what Rock Hill has needed for years. It's small, it's quaint, it's warm, inviting and friendly. You can tell when you walk in, that you're going to like this place. It says, "Welcome to the fifties. Stay a while." This is the kind of place that makes me want to hang out and try all their food. The owner, Keith, will welcome you as you enter. You can tell he's excited about what he and his wife have built, and what he does for a living. I'm used to having my expectations built up, to experience a major let down...over...and...over...and over. Not here. Ordered a breakfast sandwich with ham and an over-medium egg on an English muffin. Exactly what I was hoping for...perfect. A small bowl of seasoned potatoes and a slice of cake. Whoooo! I don't even know what I just ate, but it was really good! Fellow foodies and Yelpaholics will know what I'm saying, when I say, "I couldn't wait to get outside and take a picture of their sign." Rock Hill...listen up! Support the Throwback Kitchen. We need to make this a permanent staple of our community. Try: Whatever the chef recommends Avoid: Missing out on this place
